Everyone at GAAMC is a volunteer, from the person who may have held the door for you, right up to the President of our Board of Trustees. We have no paid positions. Every facet of GAAMC is volunteer-generated, and it’s been that way since 1972. Every person you see "working" at GAAMC does so for the shear pleasure they get from sharing the evening with friends, meeting new people, or pitching in and joining the team.
If ever there was the perfect example of "you reap what you sow," GAAMC is it. Those who sit idle for too long, get bored and leave with a feeling unfulfilled. Those who jump in get involved, usually stick around and build friendships that last decades...or a lifetime.
To help you get the most from GAAMC, our committees and projects have put together a list of "jobs" we're hoping to fill. You don't need to make a long commitment, and we have tasks of all skill levels, from making coffee or emptying the trash, to writing for our publications, speaking at public events, to marching with us in Asbury Park or New York City. There is something for everyone at GAAMC.
When most of us "came out", there was some sort of GLBTI organization
around to help support us and give us a safe place to explore who we
are
and what it means to be gay in today's world. Providing such a place
requires
a substantial volunteer base. GAAMC has an ongoing need for volunteers
in many facets of what we do, and provides you with a way to "give
back"
to your community, while learning and meeting new friends.
- We need people to help with the setup and cleanup of the
food that we enjoy at the meetings on a Monday nights.
- We need more people on the Welcoming Committee to meet and
greet new folks who come through our doors. (Remember your first time
at GAAMC?)
- We need a Women's Discussion Group Facilitator.
- We need people to help with socials. (Thanksgiving and the
Holiday Social are coming up.)
- We need more people on the Speakers Bureau.
- We need people to write articles for Challenge and for
Pride Guide.
- Maybe we need you for something we don’t even know what it
is yet.
- Maybe you’re even interested in serving on the Board of
Trustees.
